IT organizations are faced with explosive data growth and increased compliance demands while trying to rein in escalating costs. Some of the largest contributors to these costs are the rising demands of storing and managing persistent data (information that is non-changing, fixed or static) on expensive Tier 1 and Tier 2 storage. Industry analysts state that the growth of file or unstructured data is the major contributor to overall data growth and that as much as 80% of this data is persistent. One of the critical issues in optimizing data storage for cost-effectiveness is identifying what data to move. The challenge for many organizations is characterizing, understanding, and creating strategies and policies to move this persistent data to a cost-effective tier of storage
COPAN Systems' Persistent Data Assessment Service (PDAS) provides a simple six step process which enables you to identify what data to move. The analysis will enable COPAN Systems consultants to provide a quantified assessment of the amount of persistent data and where it is stored now and in the future based on growth predictions.
The Persistent Data Assessment Service enables the collection of detailed information about each device, volume, and file in a representative sample of the heterogeneous storage environment. The service runs securely, non intrusively, without interrupting your operation, or requiring that data to ever leave your site, and the service captures information without the need to install server agents.

Once COPAN Systems' Persistent Data Assessment software server is returned, the COPAN Systems' Consultant reviews all report data and analyzes it in conjunction with all relevant information and develops meaningful conclusions about the customer's environment. Since this analysis and report generation is done away from the customer site, so the customer no longer needs to allocate any time to the process. |
