What Are the Current COPAN Systems' Professional Services Offerings?
The current service offerings are COPAN Systems' product related and were developed based on our knowledge and that of our partners around the management, protection and recovery of long term data. Our portfolio of services is categorized into three major offerings of Installation Services, Professional Services and Training Services.
Installation Services

Standard installation services include both the Physical and Logical installation of the Unit. Carried out over a 2-3 day period these services include basic configuration, connectivity and knowledge transfer. At the conclusion of these installation services we will have tested connectivity to one media/archive server, ensured data transfer from that server and that all service operation functions are complete.

Professional Services

Presently there are two practices defined around a common framework of services best practices:

  • COPAN Systems' Back-up & Recovery
Focuses on long term data Management and Protection. A set of services assists customers in determining and implementing an effective backup strategy that safeguards critical business information, while keeping that information available to users, increasing the recoverability of that information and reducing the overall risk to the business.
  • COPAN Systems' Persistent Data
Helps customers understand the value of effective management of long term data assets. The operational and business benefits of moving this persistent data to a more appropriate platform are spelled out and are personalized for each customer. A set of services from assessment through planning, design and implementation enable the customer to realize the value of a purpose built platform for Persistent Data and establish the most effective solution for their IT environment.
Training

COPAN Systems' educational services specialize in training that provides measurable results for students.  Rather than basic memorization, COPAN Systems' education team offers a ‘three tier’ approach to each training class.  First, dynamic classroom training provides the student with real world experience.  Next, COPAN training provides “hands on” lab activities that simulate real life situations.  Finally, students receive a copy of the latest COPAN product Computer Based Training (CBT).  Many times after intensive training, students have trouble recalling all the information.  The CBT's provide an excellent review.  With this combination approach, the student leaves COPAN training with the ability to immediately put into practice what they have learned in the real world.

Most training can be offered at many of COPAN Systems' worldwide locations.  Some training can also be provided at the customer's location and/or local facilities based on accommodation that can support classroom and hands-on lab environments.

Training courses typically run from 3 - 5 business days. COPAN Systems will work with the customer to customize a training program designed to meet their specific needs.

Delivery Phases

Professional Services takes a multi-step approach to delivering each of these services, with a focus on providing unique value at each phase. We offer the first three phases - assessment, planning and design - as consulting services to any company seeking to improve its data management, recovery and protection through a well defined architecture. The following two phases - Implementation and Management - are designed to help customers apply and integrate specific COPAN Systems' products in their current environment and maximize their return on investment faster.

  1. Assessment
A baseline evaluation of the customer's current environment that enables the customer to gain understanding of current and future requirements, identify critical operational risk areas and provide recommendations to address these areas; typically will last from five to ten days, depending on the complexity and the size of the environment.
  2. Planning
The definition of architecture and design options to meet the current and future data retention, recovery, protection and management requirements, together with the timescales and resources required.
  3. Design
A roadmap of functional and operational specifications including policies, practices and configurations as a basis for how a COPAN Systems' solution should be implemented and integrated into the customer's specific environment to meet business and operational needs.
  4. Implementation
Actual deployment of specific COPAN solutions from developing procedures and test scenarios to writing custom interfaces. This deployment will leverage COPAN Systems' and our partner's expertise to deploy solutions faster and with less risk in order to realize the benefits.
  5. Management
Practical assistance and support for our customer's operation ranging from day-to-day management to technical training of customer's staff for a smooth transition in managing their new COPAN Systems' storage environment. We  are also able to provide regular health-checks for operational best practice and reporting.

Putting it All Together for End to End Transformation
Our ultimate objective is to provide a full end to end service to enable our customers to move from where they are now to where they need to be to realize the benefits of an effective solution to their long term data management requirements. This can be achieved by leading with a consultative sales engagement and then linking all the service phases above together with project management to ensure successful delivery of the project.
